Gradient echo black blood and white blood T2* static images acquired at TE 1.6 ms (a, b) and TE 18.8 ms (c, d) show no decay at T2* signals of the liver or the heart in a thalassemia major patient; normal values of the liver (T2* 18.4 ms, LIC 1.67 mg/g) and heart (T2* 50.4 ms and MIC 0.38 mg/g). The measured serum ferritin was 2000 ng/ml consistent with normal liver and heart findings
