About the Society

Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (EJRNM) is the official journal of the Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (ESRNM). The society is a branch of the Egyptian Medical Association, Dar El Hekma, Cairo, Egypt. The mission of the ESRNM is to support education in the field of radiology and to bring together radiologists from different countries to exchange their ideas and knowledge to improve patient care and population health through medical imaging. Since 1960, more than 55 annual national, regional and international meetings have been organised by the society.

Aims and scope

The Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine is an international journal bringing original research, editorials and review articles on all aspects of diagnostic imaging, including ultrasonography, radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, interventional radiology and nuclear medicine.

The journal aims to communicate to its readers, state-of-the-art information in the form of high quality original research articles and timely reviews on current developments in the field. The journal aims to inform efficient, appropriate and evidence-based imaging practice to the benefit of patients regionally and worldwide.

Its audience includes students, clinicians at all levels of training including radiology trainees, newly qualified radiology/imaging specialists and experienced radiologists.

Tarek El-Diasty, Editor-in-Chief

Tarek El-Diasty M.D. is a respected educator and leader among international radiologists during his career in urogenital radiology. He is currently an Emeritus Professor of Radiology at the Radiology Department of the Urology and Nephrology Center, Mansoura University, Egypt, which is the leading urology and nephrology center in the region. He has served as president of the Egyptian Radiological Society from 2012 until now.

Born in Egypt in 1955, Dr. El-Diasty got his medical degree from Mansoura Faculty of Medicine in 1979, before embarking on a rotating internship and residency at the same institution, then receiving his Master’s Degree in 1986 and Doctorate in 1990. Ever since starting his career in radiology, Dr. El-Diasty has been committed to establishing the first full-time and completely digital radiology department in the country and introducing uro-interventional procedures to Egypt. To date more than 60 medical postgraduate students have completed their radiology degrees under his direct supervision.

Dr. El-Diasty has served as principle investigator on numerous researches focusing on imaging of urinary bladder cancer, renal transplantation and interventional procedures. His research is reflected in more than 125 peer-reviewed papers and 17 book chapters with 2,165 citations and 27 H-index rating. He has made a significant impact on the direction of radiology research in his native Egypt.

He now serves as an editor, advisory member and reviewer of many international and national academic journals. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (EJRNM). He has also given numerous lectures domestically and internationally.

Being an internationally recognized expert and lecturer, he has received several awards from the Egyptian government. In recognition of his career achievements and outstanding contributions to the development of radiology in Egypt and internationally, Dr. El-Diasty has received the European Society of Radiology (ESR) Honorary Membership in European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2013 and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Honorary membership in 2019.
